The Etowah Friendly Garden Club will host its next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at the L&N Depot beginning at 5 p.m.

The topic of the meeting will be to discuss improvements and beautification of the walking trail adjacent to the depot. Members are encouraged to attend, and area residents are also more than welcome.

Etowah Friendly Garden Club President Gene Keller said some of the ideas the club will be looking for input on include more shade trees, ground cover, benches, etc. In case of inclement weather on Jan. 10, the club will meet at the Etowah Community Center, located at 155 Robinson Street, at 6 p.m.

The club recently teamed up with the local Boy Scouts of America Troop 74 in placing identification signs on the trees along the walking trail on the Etowah depot grounds. Each sign has a UR code that can be scanned with links to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and gives more information about the tree.

The Etowah Friendly Garden Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Etowah Community Center. Check the club’s Facebook page for the latest information or call club president Gene Keller at 423-263-1506.
