Just got back from the Niota Christmas Parade and I wanted to write down my thoughts...if you notice the people in the picture are in their 60's and 70's, and there are 6 of them, 7 including me. I was so disappointed on the TOTAL lack of support from McMinn County Democratic Party. We voted on preparing for these parades and was given money to buy decorations for the parades. What we didn't know was no one else wanted to be in the parade but a small handful of the OLDEST people in the party. By our lack of support and attendance we let the whole town of Niota think there is just a small amount of Democrats here thus reinforcing that rumor. It also showed the lack of wanting to support our own party. I apologized to both Chuck and DiAnn Leman for our party and it's lack of recognizing and supporting all the hard work they contributed to making these parades work. They bought stuff, and never turned in a receipt for them, just their way of donating to the party and what do we do? Not show up! I am disgusted with the lack of participation of this this party right now and hope that I get over it before the next events coming up whenever they are because I don't want to be involved with a lot of disinterested people that say "that sounds like a good idea" but put out no energy to show up and support it. Some people have said, "they might have had other plans for the holidays" my question is "All of them?" The indifference of this group right now is intolerable to me. Find someone else to pull the rug out from under next time I'm not interested in doing it right now. Thanks for listening to my ranting, I feel better now...
Special thanks to Ken and Kathy Nagel for their help decorating and showing up for the parade as well as Kathy and Doug Raper for supporting our efforts. Thank you to Karen Dunn and her daughter who showed up but could not find us to join us on the float.
The Arts:
Ruth SowersSuch an amazing night in Etowah Tennessee! Our Merry TubaChristmas maybe small compared to most but we have probably one of the fanciest decorated stages out there and we have fabulous prizes LOL! You can have so much fun with a small group! And we have an, amazing theater. Kenyon Wilson said that the acoustics in this theater were very tuba friendly . A special thanks to our crew April Wheeler Brearey , Timothy Womac , Rusty Evans, and Jaclyn Kohler ( Jess Carney )!Looking forward to seeing people old and new back again next year! Merry Christmas and all Blessed Holidays to all!
