California mountain and desert towns dig out of the mud from 1st tropical storm in 84 years

Crews worked to dig roads, buildings and care home residents out of the mud across a wide swath of Southwestern U.S. desert Monday, after the first tropical storm to hit Southern California in 84 years.

Witness in Trump documents case changed lawyers and then his testimony, prosecutors say

The Justice Department says a witness in the federal prosecution of Donald Trump over the hoarding of classified documents retracted “prior false testimony” after switching lawyers last month and provided new information that implicated the former president.

Senate panel clips bills designed to get at root of mass shootings – Tennessee Lookout

The Tennessee Senate Judiciary Committee killed a long list of bills designed to respond to The Covenant School mass shooting.

The Athens Recycle Center Household Hazardous Waste Container has been re-opened. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. For more information, please contact the Office of the Public Works Department at 423-744-2745. Many of the services that the city provides through the Public Works Department is available at: cityofathenstn.com/publicworks/ 

The McMinn County Election Commission office will be closed on Tuesday, August 29th for training. The office will reopen at 8:30 am on Wednesday, August 30th .
