The Etowah Carnegie Library is launching its Summer Reading Program this week, with programs beginning at 1:30 p.m. featuring crafts, storytime, and family activities throughout the summer. The library will also participate in the Athens YMCA Summer Feeding Program from June 1 through July 31, serving free weekday lunches at 1 p.m. for children and teens ages 18 and under (no meals on holiday closures). Families are encouraged to attend for a summer of reading, learning, and meals. For more information, contact the Etowah Carnegie Library.

The “Gems of the Past” history series continues Thursday, June 4 at the Gem Theater in Etowah with Sheriff Joe Guy presenting on the 1946 Battle of Athens. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. The event, part of the Tennessee Overhill Heritage Association series and supported by TN250, is open to the public.
