Due to the holidays and weather we have not been able to clean Mecca Pike for the last month. So we are starting back on the schedule we originally had of cleaning on the first Saturday of the month. We are a small but hardy group that are friendly and hard working picking up on average about 50 lbs of trash off the side of the road called Mecca Pike. It is located off of Hwy 411, called Hwy 310 heading over towards Tellico plains to the West. We meet for breakfast at 7:30 am at the local Waffle house in Etowah and then go over to Mecca Pike and go about a mile to where the engineers building is on the right. They have a good parking lot there to park and we organize and gather there at 8am. We then go in both directions to start cleaning the road. We have plastic bags, pickup sticks, and vests, so you just need to bring gloves. It usually takes an hour to clean the road depending on the amount of people who show up. We would love to have your help if you are so inclined.
