F riendly City Festivals is pleased to announce the dates for its 2024 festival/concert schedule! National MooFest, McMinn County's beloved dairy festival, is scheduled for Saturday, June 1. Taking place from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in historic downtown Athens, Tennessee, the festival features several popular activities including the Maggie Strutt, local shopping, live entertainment on three stages plus MooGrass jam Session, over 150 food, crafts and arts vendors, Mayfield Dairy Farms contests, Biscuit Bake-Off, all ages Cow Costume Contest, and AgAvenue. MooFest is presented by Friendly City Festivals, The City of Athens, McMinn County Tourism Board, Mayfield Dairy Farm and Ag Central. The 13th Annual Sounds of Summer concert series will once again be on Friday nights at 7:00 p.m. at Market Pavilion in historic downtown Athens.
The Etowah Main Street program will be holding a community interest meeting for building and business owners February 6th at the community center at 6:00 to discuss the Downtown Improvement Grant and the application for those who wish to apply for funds that were awarded by TNECD on behalf of the TN Main Street Program. Applications will be available at this meeting and available at the Chamber office thereafter with a due date of your official application by February 29th. For those of you who are desiring to take part in the Downtown Improvement Grant this will be an important meeting to attend. We will also be fielding questions and have referral resources on hand for building or business owners. Please see article from the state for more information on the scope of this project.
