The McMinn County Historical Society will meet Sunday, November 5th at 2 p.m. in the blue room of the McMinn County Courthouse. Special guest will be McMinn County Sheriff, Joe Guy, Author and Historian, discussing “Washington Crossing the Delaware”. The public is welcome to attend this meeting. Tennessee Wesleyan University will host “A Cure for Hate” on Thursday, November 2nd, in Townsend Auditorium on the college’s campus. Author Tony McAleer spent 15 years in the white supremacist neoNazi movement. After over a thousand hours of individual and group counseling, he became instrumental to helping found Life After Hate, an organization supporting those considering exiting Hate Groups. He is the author of The Cure for Hate: A Former White Supremacist’s Journey from Violent Extremism to Radical Compassion, published by Arsenal Pulp Press. He also has a TED Talk available on “Radical Compassion” on TEDx. The community is invited to attend this free event sponsored by the Tennessee Holocaust Commission, the TWU Office of Multicultural Affairs, and TWU History Department.
