State News:

Tennessee legislators are back at it and bullying trans kids. The State Legislature has only been in session for a couple of weeks, and already they're holding hearings on HB1 and SB1, which would ban gender affirming care for trans youth. As PFLAGers, we fight for our LGBTQ+ loved ones every day, and now we need to fight back and kill these harmful bills.

Our partners at the Tennessee Equality Project have put together a list of steps you can take in the fight to protect trans kids. Send emails to your State Representatives and State Senators and, if you're able, show up to the committee hearings at the State Capitol on January 31st and February 1st so lawmakers can see with their own eyes that Tennesseans OPPOSE these efforts.

Thank you for your advocacy. Let's win this fight!

Local News:

This past Saturday, January 28th, Cub Scouts from Pack 177

and Boy Scouts from Troop 118 left "Scouting for Food" bags on

houses in many local neighborhoods. They will return to pick up

the non-perishable food items on Saturday, February 4th. All

items collected will be donated to Table Graces in Athens. If you

have any questions or you did not receive a bag, but would like to

participate, please call or text Aaron Cross at 423-506-0839 or
