A magnitude 2.4 earthquake was recorded early Monday, June 8, at 2:02 a.m., with the epicenter located about 3.6 miles east of Etowah and 10.8 miles southeast of Athens. The quake occurred at a depth of 12 kilometers, according to the USGS, and no damage has been reported.
