MAGA, GOP are spouting nonsense, devolving into conspiracy and chaos over SAVE America Act

The SAVE America Act is still under debate in the U.S. Senate, where it faces long odds of overcoming a Democratic filibuster. But MAGA, anti-voting activists, and the GOP are nonetheless doing everything they can to muster more support — including spouting nonsense, stirring conspiracies, and scheming to pressure Democratic senators into flipping their vote.

On social media, far-right figures like anti-voting lawyer Cleta Mitchell and Tea Party Patriots (TPP) co-founder Jenny Beth Martin are pushing misleading claims and obfuscating facts about the measure, in a desperate attempt to move the needle on the doomed bill.
But a video from last year shows the bill’s lead House champion, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), admitting that his married aide “had to jump through a bunch of hoops” to vote in Virginia because she changed her name. Publicly, of course, Roy has called claims that married women could face hurdles “an absurd narrative peddled by the left.”

Governor Bill Lee will be visiting in Meigs County today. He will be at the Meigs County Courthouse at 12 noon. He will also be in Athens at 1:30 pm at the Mayfield Visitors Center. The governor is visiting all 95 Tennessee Counties this year to help celebrate America’s 250th Birthday
