McMinn County High School is hosting an International Day Celebration on Thursday, November 9th from 5-7 at MCHS to celebrate and showcase different countries and cultures from around the world. Their current events include local food trucks that have internationally inspired cuisine, student presentations about different countries, presentations from foreign exchange students, food samples prepared by their culinary students, music, dancing, crafts, and much more. Entry to the event is free and open to students, parents, and the community.

The McMinn Senior Activity Center has announced the new Creative Aging arts and crafts class list. The first class is a Christmas Card Making Class on Thursday, November 16th at 6:30pm and on Friday, November 17th , at 10am. The class is suitable for all skill levels and at the end, participants will have created a beautiful, hand-crafted Christmas card for someone special. There are several classes that will be scheduled throughout the year including a Learn to Crochet class that is held every Wednesday and begins at 10:30am as well as pottery, decoupage, watercolor, ceramic painting, jewelry making, basket weaving and more. The Creative Aging Arts Series is funded by a generous contribution from the C. Scott and Muriel Mayfield Foundation. All supplies and instruction for the class will be free to senior citizens (ages 60 and up). And while anyone in the community aged 18 and up is invited to join these classes, there will be a $5 charge to all non-seniors, which must be paid in advance to reserve your seat in the class.
