WHAT YOU MISSED IN THE RECONCILIATION BILL: As Republicans’ megabill heads to the Senate, reporters are digging into some consequential, less discussed provisions. Throughout the bill, the GOP has stripped benefits — Child Tax Credit, Obamacare subsidies and more — from both legal and undocumented immigrants to save $80 billion, POLITICO’s Brian Faler reports. The bill would create the first ever federal school voucher program, NYT’s Sarah Mervosh and Dana Goldstein report. It would also block transgender Medicaid recipients of any age, not just minors, from getting gender transition-related medical care, WaPo’s Fenit Nirappil and Casey Parks report.

My Take:

I wish it was that easy… the more I hear and read about the great big billionaires bill as well as the hop scotch tariffs the more I feel like I am watching a train wreck in slow motion that will affect us all.
While living in a ruby red state, I feel no power/ability to make a difference through my legislators. I meet with my friends and we complain about all that is going on, but that doesn’t make a difference either.
I feel like making a little difference by providing information in this news letter to others but that doesn’t seem enough… some of us are more active in our community, planting flowers, making a small difference here, meeting with the officials and letting them get to know us and us them, so we at least have a relationship with the decision makers in our community. Proving to them we show up when needed and can be relied on when help is needed in out town. Small tiny steps that we hope will grow into something bigger.
I’m going to try this to see how this works:
