State News:

The below legislators are supportive of no medicaid for some of our people in Tennessee, and I would love to know the reason why. They also are supportive of keeping the statue in our public parks.

Local News:

The Cherokee National Forest will hold an open house on Friday, Feb. 24, to share areas they plan to conduct prescribed fires in spring 2023.

The public is invited to meet with Forest Service employees to look at maps and ask questions from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Municipal Room of the Etowah Community Center.

The Tellico and Ocoee Ranger Districts of the Cherokee National Forest use prescribed fire to control fuels, promote desirable vegetation, and improve wildlife habitat. Prescribed fire can be used at any time of year, but most acres burned in the south zone of the Cherokee National Forest are burned in early spring and late fall. Burn units planned for each ranger district will be displayed on large maps and digital maps can be provided to discuss individual areas.
