A lonely nation: Has the notion of the 'American way' promoted isolation across history?

This month, the U.S. surgeon general declared loneliness an epidemic, saying that it takes as deadly a toll as smoking. Does the focus on American individualism encourage isolation and alienation? Perhaps that is, like other chunks of the American story, a premise built on myths.

Special prosecutor ends Trump-Russia investigation, saying FBI acted hastily

Special counsel John Durham's report represents the long-awaited culmination of an investigation that Trump and allies had claimed would expose massive wrongdoing by law enforcement and intelligence officials. Instead, Durham’s investigation delivered underwhelming results, with prosecutors securing a guilty plea from a little-known FBI employee but losing the only two criminal cases they took to trial.

Hillsdale applications hint at links between charter school and Common Core – Tennessee Lookout

Hillsdale College's affiliated charter schools are asking for an exception in Tennessee law to teach a curriculum linked with Common Core.

Wednesday, May 17th is the last Day to

✓ The Good Faith Clinic will be open May

23rd at 3 p.m. for refills and at 3:30 p.m. for

doctor visits. The GFC is for residents of

McMinn and Meigs Counties that are under

the age of 65 and have no health insurance.

✓Next month, the McMinn County U. T.

Extension Institute of Agriculture will be

offering 2 new Mediterranean Style Cooking Schools and a new Sweet Treats class in

July! Classes will be held at the McMinn

Higher Education Center on Denso Drive.

Instructors are Sarah Kite and Becky Layman. The Mediterranean “Salads and Veggies” class will be Thursday, June 8th from

10:30 to noon. The Mediterranean “Fish &

Seafood” class will be Thursday, June 22nd

from 10:30 to noon and the “Frozen Sweet

Treats” class will be Tuesday, July 11th

from 10:30 to noon. These classes are limited to the first 24 participants. You may
