Constitution:

The Eighth Amendment

The Eighth Amendment bars excessive bail and fines and cruel and unusual punishment.

The Ninth Amendment

The Ninth Amendment states that listing specific rights in the Constitution does not mean that people do not have other rights that have not been spelled out.

The Tenth Amendment

The Tenth Amendment says that the Federal Government only has those powers delegated in the Constitution. If it isn’t listed, it belongs to the states or to the people.

The McMinn County Election Commission will meet in regular session on Tuesday, December 17 at 5 pm in the conference room of the McMinn County Courthouse and will conduct any election business to legally come before the board. The agenda will be posted on the bulletin board at the Election Office by Friday, December 13.

• Athens Community Theatre will hold auditions for As She Likes It on January 12 and 13, 2025, at 6:00 PM at The Arts Center. Organize to Protect Communities Under Threat. MAGA will hit hard, and we’ll need to stand together.
Operate Under Authoritarian Creep. We’re not giving up on democracy, but we are not naive about what we face. We’ll cover lessons learned about operating under increasingly authoritarian conditions.
