Monday, July 1, was a busy day. That morning the Supreme Court handed down a decision in Donald J. Trump v. United States that gives the president absolute immunity for committing crimes while engaging in official acts. On the same day, Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon began a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress at a low-security federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut. Before he began serving his sentence, he swore he would “be more powerful in prison than I am now.”

The Road to Tyranny - Project 2025 · The Democratic National Committee

Fourth Branch Action is hosting a virtual teach-in on Project 2025. Please join us for this important event. So many Americans have heard truly little, if anything, about Project 2025. They think maga Republicans won't put it into action, or they can't believe the maga GOP can put it into action. NEWS FLASH: The work outlined in Project 2025 has already started. It is not a matter of it being a potential plan waiting to be implemented, it is the current working plan of the maga GOP. Both elected and unelected wealthy, religious, autocratic zealots have been working on this plan for decades. Consider comments made by former President Trump during his recent TIME Magazine interview, and elsewhere - his call to terminate our Constitution, his encouraging Russia to invade any NATO member country he thinks isn't spending enough on defense, and his calls to allow states to monitor pregnancies and prosecute women who violate abortion bans, and - this should be plenty to scare all of us. We do not want you scared into despair or inaction (that's the name of the maga game). We do want you to understand what is and will be happening. We want to share our urgency to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. We discourage going to their website to view any information. If you want to read or peruse Project 2025, you will receive a link to the document in an automated response after registration for our event. The confirmation email will also include additional resources you may wish to review before our event. We will give you basic information on Project 2025's contents, where we are and where we are headed if a Republican is elected President. We will impress you with the urgency for every American to act, and we will share some of the actions you can take. This is not a hypothetical threat. It is real. It is here. Democracy is not a spectator sport. It is ours for as long as we can keep it.
