My Take:
I keep thinking of ways to make a difference in my town with a population of three thousand. It is a conservative town with many churches in it. As a progressive I struggle with how to express myself in my town.
I try to imagine what I would like to see in my town and then try to make it happen. I have talked with friends about having more flowers to spruce up our town. We planted some ground cover for the WWII monument last week, and plan on helping with flower baskets in the future.
We have unused horseshoe pits that are just begging for sand and stakes to play, and I think of trying to convince my friends to present the Declaration of Indepence at our local 4th of July celebration in a couple of month.
Trying to express my values in a small conservative town to show them we don’t have the horns of a devil like Fox news and some other influencers in our town try to spout. That is the best I have come up with so far in the climate we are presently in.
